Look What's Happening This Week!

Mrs. Deci’s Kindergarten News
October 11, 2011

Greetings Kindergarten Families!

THIS WEEK:
We will continue the theme: Fall Is Here!  We will wrap up our exploration of apples, as we read and write about the fall season.  Students will be introduces to the letter Aa and its’ short vowel sound /a/ as in apple.  We will also work with rhyming words, and sentences. Students will begin to look at the difference between letters, words and sentences.  In math students will compare coins, and explore height as we compare students in our class.  We will also begin learning about shapes.  In science students will begin looking at life cycles.  This week we will review the life cycle of an apple.

PICTURES:
Please send a recent picture of your child to school on Wednesday, October 12, 2011.  This photo will NOT be returned and will be used in a classroom project.

CONFERENCES:
Parent – teacher conferences will be held the week of October 24 – 27, 2011.   Last week I sent reminder slips home in student folders for those parents who signed up for conferences in September.  If you have not yet returned your conference sign up sheet please do so as soon as possible.  I will send a yellow slip home in your child’s folder that will outline your conference date and time.

FIELD TRIP:
The kindergarten class will be visiting Wolf’s Neck Farm this month.  Permission slips were sent home last week.  Thank you to all families who completed the permission slip and sent it to school with the $ 5.00 admission fee.  If you have not returned this form and the $ 5.00 fee please do so as soon as possible.  It is important that I have ALL forms and money by then end of the week in order to prepare for the trip on the 21st

DONATIONS:
As the temperatures are changing more and more students are coming down with colds and the flu.  I am in need of disinfecting wipes to help clean tables and classroom surfaces.  If you are able, please send in a container of wipes in your child’s backpack.

Thanks you for your continued help and support.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 443-8285 if you have any questions or concerns.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Deci
